Dr. Wendy Parson has acquired an esteemed reputation through various roles within the field of Psychology over the past 35+ years. She is recognized, respected, and celebrated by both clients and students for her phenomenal grasp of clinical application and psychological insight as well as having a good-humored, warm, and personable yet professional demeanor that puts others at ease with elevated assurance, confidence, and a higher sense of purpose and optimism.
Her career spans working within Industrial Psychology, before beginning private practice in Marriage and Family Counseling (MFT), where as an MFT therapist she primarily treated individuals and families dealing with stress and anxiety with solution-focused aims along with positive psychology, gratefulness, and narrative therapy. Her practice inspired her to not only take on a more directive coaching approach using clear advice and creating proactive wellness plans that initiate visible and tangible change with her clients, but it further allowed her to be both gender and culturally inclusive when many others within her field were resistant to interventions and areas of study that would broaden their scope to serve diverse populations.
Dr. Wendy has further advanced toward providing her expertise to the entertainment industry in the role of a Wellness Counselor for onset entertainment film projects within the New York, USA, and abroad regions. In this role, she coaches actors through difficult moments and scenes by providing support and balance toward restoring themselves after experiencing deep emotional conflicts or challenges on set. She further assists in facilitating crisis interactions or disruptions amongst staff and entertainment figures who are onset or touring.
Dr. Wendy has further worked, and resided abroad in the Middle East, like Dubai, UAE in part due to her deep search for meaning about life and existence. This unquenchable curiosity has led to her studying Transpersonal Psychology, where she acquired a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology. In addition to her studies and practices within this field, she has been able to utilize and witness the profound impact of using spirituality in mental health.
With extended study in World Religion and international professional work teaching across the globe and currently, as a Professor at SUNY Old Westbury in New York, Wendy’s past training includes working with Dr. Jack Granofsky, a former student of Dr. Carl Jung as well as His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Such training has assured that she is adept in many theoretical interventions, both secular and non, to put to work as a counselor and coach.
